Ahead of the PWHL draft, Julie was interviewed by Global News to talk about why SHE’S GOT NEXT exists—and what happens when women in sport get seen, supported, and celebrated.

“We’re now seeing women head coaches, GMs, and women in leadership across industries that used to shut them out. When kids grow up watching that, it changes what they believe is possible.
Stereotypes start to shift. Norms evolve. And leadership starts to look a lot more like the world we live in.”
SHE’S GOT NEXT is building a community that shows up—for athletes, for each other, and for the next generation.
Where our name comes from
SHE’S GOT NEXT grew out of the energy of pickup basketball. When you’re on the sidelines and want to get in the game, you call out, “Got next.” It’s a simple phrase—but it says a lot. It says you’re ready. You’re confident. You want in.
That spirit is at the heart of everything we do.
We want more women to step up and get into the game—whether it’s on the court, in the boardroom, or at the table where decisions get made. And when she does, we want her to have a community behind her, bolstering her confidence and providing support, so she knows she’s got this and deserves to be there.
“We’re a professional network, and the name SHE’S GOT NEXT is a reflection of what we want to see. It’s a rallying cry and a statement that we are championing women who are ready for their shot.
We’re here to open doors for each other and the next generation.”
