You don’t have to be perfect.
You just have to show up.
That’s one of the many things Julie said in this podcast that really landed.

Sport has a way of humbling you. You fail—a lot.
And eventually, you learn that failure is just part of life. And you learn to keep going. And keep showing up.
Julie Smulders joined Janine Charron on her podcast 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘈𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘚𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴.
Julie shares her story—from playing for fun up until grade 11, to getting a bit more serious near the end of high school… to becoming a rookie standout at UBC, playing pro in Holland, and eventually figuring out what came next when the games stopped.
She talks about what sport taught her, how that mindset shows up in her work now, and why building community for women in sport matters if we want to see more women in leadership positions in all areas.
Curious about why Julie and Jill Tracy started SHE’S GOT NEXT and what’s in the name? That’s also in there. Check it out. It’s a great listen.
