There can be a whole lot happening around Shauna Wilton at an event, and you’d rarely know it from looking at her.
Every once in a while, she’ll calmly say, “Can you excuse me for a second?”, reach for her phone and head off to handle whatever needs handling. Then she’s back, barely missing a beat.
That calm presence is kind of her superpower.
As VP of Event Operations at the PNE, Shauna leads the teams behind some of Vancouver’s biggest live experiences, from Playland and the Fair to concerts and sporting events. Most recently, she helped lead the FIFA World Cup Fan Festival at the PNE, a project that took more than two years of planning and brought thousands of people together to celebrate the game.
It’s fitting for someone who says what she loves most about her work is creating experiences people remember for years.
Shauna’s path to the PNE wasn’t exactly obvious. She started with a business degree thinking she’d become an accountant, then spent nearly 30 years working across petrochemicals, helicopters, consulting, municipal government and eventually events.
Sport, meanwhile, was always there. Today, she’s also Board Chair of British Columbia Golf, a boxer, a golfer with a hell of a drive, a longtime volunteer and mentor, and someone who genuinely loves bringing people together.
Looking back, Shauna says every role prepared her for the one she has now. It wasn’t a straight line. It was simply the path she needed.
And maybe our favourite thing about Shauna is the philosophy she brings to all of it:
“Leave people, teams, and organizations better than you found them.”
She’s spent a lot of years putting that into practice, and we’re very lucky to have her in SHE’S GOT NEXT.
Meet Shauna Wilton.
