We’d never met someone who “casually” ran a 2:34 marathon while building a career in finance. Until Kylee Raftis joined SHE’S GOT NEXT.
Kylee ran Division I cross country and track at Boston College and assumed those might be her highest-level years in sport. Instead, she’s gone on to place in the top 30 at major marathons including Boston, Berlin and New York, all while building a full-time career in finance.
There’s a pretty consistent theme across both parts of her life: consistency compounds, mistakes are feedback and growth takes patience.
That last one took some time to learn. Her college coach used to remind her mid-race to be patient. It didn’t fully click until she started running marathons, where patience can make the difference between a great race and a very long final few miles.
She’s brought that same willingness to play the long game to her career, making moves from Boston College to PUMA, then across the world to Melbourne, and now into RBC Investor Services’ Career Development Program.
Kylee’s path is a good reminder that the next step doesn’t always have to look like the obvious one. Sometimes you follow what excites you, pushes you or makes you curious — and see where it takes you.
We’re proud to have Kylee in the SHE’S GOT NEXT community. Swipe to learn more about her.
