VANCOUVER’S ALL IN: GARDNER MOREY TO LEAD NEW PWHL ERA

The wait is over, and Vancouver is ready.

On May 23, the PWHL announced Cara Gardner Morey as the first General Manager of PWHL Vancouver, and you can feel the momentum. The city’s been buzzing since the expansion news broke, and now, with Gardner Morey taking the reins, it’s clear that Vancouver isn’t just getting a team. We’re building something bigger.

Gardner Morey has a legacy of winning, including an ECAC title, Ivy League championship, and the development of stars like Sarah Fillier and Claire Thompson. Now she’s bringing that experience west.

“I’m incredibly honoured to step into the role of General Manager and lead the PWHL team in Vancouver,” Gardner Morey said. “We’ll build a team that reflects Vancouver’s passionate spirit, one that competes for the Walter Cup and becomes part of the city’s fabric.”

That spirit? It’s already here. From a sold-out Takeover Tour game to community-led PWHL watch parties and an incredible movement of young girls picking up hockey sticks, this city has shown it’s ready to rally behind women’s hockey. We’re not just waiting for a team, we’re part of it.

With the Expansion Draft on the horizon, Gardner Morey is ready to build a team with grit, vision, and heart. Vancouver, we asked for this. Now, we get to build it. SHE’S GOT NEXT and Vancouver’s all in. Welcome to the ‘Couve Cara!
